If you read my last blog post you’ll know by now that I have put on a “few extra” pounds. No need to dwell on that fact but it does bring me to my newly found solution on my road to recovery: Walking a mile every morning.
Now to the average gym going althete training person, this may not seem like a lot to you. But coming from someone who would be tired walking from my house door to my car parked out front, this is a big ordeal. Of course, eventually, the plan is to steadily increase this goal until I’m really stretching myself, but for now, this is a comfortable and effective stretch.
Wanna join with me? Yay!
When: Every morning at 6am ( well between 6am and 6:15am. This is a sweet spot for me as it gets me up and ready & energized to start my work day right after. I would say to pick a time that works best for your schedule. Maybe 5 or 7 would be a better time for you. Just make sure that you’re leaving enough time to get prepared for the rest of your day.
Where: We just walk around the block of our home. We’re in a little cul-de-sac so we just walk around and around until we hit our mile goal.
How to keep track: we use this great app called Map My Run. It tracks the workout and actually ties into the app we use called My Fitness Pal to track what we eat..(that’s going to be another blog post altogether)
The most important but hardest part is to actually start. My husband and I have wanted to start forever ago but finally made the decision to actually get up and do it. Once you start doing it consistently for about 2 days, you’ll find your body waking you up around that time. It’s interesting how we can train our bodies to do what we need it to do. We just need the will and determination to actually just START.
So here’s to you and here’s to me as we keep on this journey. On an upcoming blog we’ll talk about watching what we eat (trust me I love food so it’s harder for me than for you :-))
Have a great morning and a great day!
